After years of fiscal mismanagement, it seems Twitter’s demise can no longer be denied. It being taken over by a pretend genius man baby who doesn’t really know what he’s doing and whose only reason for buying it at a tremendous loss is “to own the libs” is pretty much the death knell.
I make no qualms about it. I left Twitter because 1) the new CEO brings toxic juju, and 2) the Titanic was already sinking anyway, so I felt it was time to jump ship. I think Twitter has run its course. The novelty of microblogging has faded. It’s time to move on. I’m sure I’m not the only one who abandoned ship. The site has probably lost considerable traffic after the exodus of a significant number of its regular users. Pretend Genius can fudge numbers and lie about it all he wants in public, but I’m sure in private the dude is starting to realize what an idiot he truly is and what a giant mess he’s made.
It makes me sad, really. I was there right at the beginning cheering on Evan Williams when he launched Twitter. And now it’s all just crumbling away like Tesla stocks.
It will probably continue to limp on and linger in its diminished status. It might even experience a bit of a resurrection if PG sells it for 3 million dollars to some other hapless entity, but I don’t think it can ever recapture its glory days.
Unless Google buys it, maybe? Like they did with Blogger? They definitely have the wherewithal and the smarts to make it work… How about it, G?
What do you think?
